Relewise is a fast-growing SaaS company delivering an AI-powered personalization and search platform for e-commerce. We help retailers and brands create tailored shopping experiences through high-performance search and recommendations, built with a strong focus on engineering rigor and operational excellence.

We are now looking for a DevOps Engineer to take end-to-end ownership of our platform operations and help us evolve how we build, deploy, and operate our platform. This is not a “keep-the-lights-on” role focused on maintaining manual routines. The core mission is to systematically automate and improve our DevOps processes to reduce operational overhead and increase scalability.

The role

As a DevOps Engineer at Relewise, you will own and improve the platform operations for our Azure-based environments, with a strong emphasis on automation, reliability, and clear operational standards.

While our current platform is Azure-based, we continuously evaluate our hosting strategy and may explore alternatives over time. Experience operating platforms across multiple hosting models or supporting cloud/provider migrations is therefore highly relevant.

Parts of our production setup are VM-based today. However, success in this role is not measured by maintaining VM-specific manual operations. Success means reducing manual work and VM-dependence over time through automation, standardization, and platform evolution – moving toward more scalable and repeatable hosting patterns as we explore better options for the future.

Why this role is a unique opportunity

You will join at a point where you can shape the way we run production going forward: improving reliability, strengthening compliance-grade documentation and operational discipline, raising the automation bar, and helping define the next iteration of our platform.

You will, among other things:

  • Own and improve platform operations across cloud environments, driving automation and reliability improvements end-to-end.
  • Establish and maintain the baseline for security, observability and reliability of the production environments.
  • Maintain standard procedures for operations and incident responses.
  • Operate and improve our API production operations, including:
  • Deployments and release procedures
  • CI/CD workflows and safe rollback strategies
  • Monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response practices
  • Server provisioning and lifecycle management
  • Dataset management in production contexts
  • Operate and be responsible for our internal DevOps system and ensure it remains reliable, auditable, and easy to use.
  • Support other production workloads (currently including web applications and SQL servers), helping raise the baseline for automation, monitoring, and operational quality. Drive platform evolution: reduce manual work, improve standardization, and help identify, evaluate and implement improvements and alternative approaches to hosting production workloads with clear operational guardrails and staged migration plans.

We expect you to have

  • Proven experience with automation and scripting and a clear bias toward eliminating manual operational work through automation.
  • Solid software development experience, particularly in .NET / C#.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and familiarity with other cloud platforms (such as AWS).
  • Strong knowledge of Windows environments, including operating and managing Windows VMs at scale.
  • Experience with Linux environments and configuration tools (e.g. Ansible).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and release automation (e.g., GitHub Actions / Azure DevOps).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code / configuration management (e.g., Bicep, Terraform, ARM).
  • Strong operational discipline: monitoring/logging/alerting, incident handling, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.

  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, TLS/certificates, reverse proxies, firewalling).

Desired personal characteristics

  • Highly detail-oriented and quality-driven, with strong ownership and accountability.
  • Structured and methodical, with strong attention to documentation and process clarity.
  • Automation-first mindset: proactively identifies manual work and improves it through repeatable, scalable solutions.
  • Reliable and calm under pressure; pragmatic in incident handling and troubleshooting.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; comfortable coordinating operational changes and risks across teams.
  • Strong security mindset: least privilege, auditability, controlled change management.
  • Bring a strong “operational excellence” bar: observability, incident leadership, and reliable delivery habits.

Desired personal characteristics

  • Have experience modernizing platforms away from VM-centric setups (e.g., containerization, managed services, platform standardization).Enjoy building internal platforms/portals that enable teams through self-service and strong guardrails.
  • Have experience with private cloud solutions such as VMWare vSphere or OpenStack.

Work hours and on-call

This is a full-time position (37 hours/week). You should expect occasional work outside regular business hours for planned tasks. Over time – once you are fully onboarded – you will join an on-call rotation.

Location & flexibility

We have a preference for onsite/hybrid (Aarhus/Denmark), but remote is acceptable for the right candidate.

Application

Send your CV (and optionally a brief note) to job@relewise.com. Links to relevant projects, automation work, or code are welcome. If you have experience with cloud migrations (including moving away from a specific provider), please highlight this in your application.

For questions, contact Brian Holmgård Kristensen (CPO) at bhk@relewise.com.
